Direct centrifugation for detecting Giardia spp. cysts in filter backwash water

چکیده

Abstract Pathogenic protozoa endanger human health and challenge water treatment, especially during outbreaks in developing countries. For instance, Giardia spp. cysts can recirculate the filter backwash (FBW), reinforcing relevance of their detection protocol negligible matrices. This study aimed to detect FBW by direct centrifugation (DC) immunomagnetic separation (IMS) with addition detergent dispersion solution ICN 7X at 1.0%. To do this, cyst suspensions were inoculated into samples (14 NTU), which was generated bench-scale drinking-water treatment high-turbidity (112 NTU). Furthermore, DC+ICN method compared calcium carbonate flocculation. provided cleaner microscope slides minor damage walls. The commercial suspension lamblia had an adequate recovery rate (19.5%). However, EasySeed® 7.8%, below required range Method 1623.1 (above 8%). High costs low efficiencies several methods for detecting cysts. Therefore, future studies should develop improve protocols, complex Detecting residues is crucial addressing current sanitation issues

Performance of Continuous Electrocoagulation Process for Turbidity Removal from Sand Filter Backwash Water

The presence of particles such as algae, clay, organic materials and water-soluble substances often create turbidity or color in water. In recent years, electrocoagulation process has attracted an extensive attention due to its advantages. Since sand filters are widely used in water treatment industry and their corresponding backwash water is large in volume, turbidity removal will save water c...

Assessment of a Continuous Electrocoagulation on Turbidity Removal from Spent Filter Backwash Water

Background & Aims of the Study: Spent filter backwash water (SFBW) consists of 1-5% of the total treated water typically and it has a high turbidity. Because of the scarcity of water resources and in order to prevent the environmental contamination, effluent treatment of rapid sand filter backwashing is unavoidable. One of the new technologies for removal of turbidity from the ...

Dataset on the spent filter backwash water treatment by sedimentation, coagulation and ultra filtration

During operation of most water treatment plants, spent filter backwash water (SFBW) is generated, which accounts about 2-10% of the total plant production. By increasing world population and water shortage in many countries, SFBW can be used as a permanent water source until the water treatment plant is working. This data article reports the practical method being used for water reuse from SFBW...

Evaluation of drinking water treatment combined filter backwash water recycling technology based on comet and micronucleus assay.

Based on the fact that recycling of combined filter backwash water (CFBW) directly to drinking water treatment plants (WTP) is considered to be a feasible method to enhance pollutant removal efficiency, we were motivated to evaluate the genotoxicity of water samples from two pilot-scale drinking water treatment systems, one with recycling of combined backwash water, the other one with a convent...
